Dance Arts Academy Founder and Director Carla Luna discovered this beautiful 1939 Art Deco building after a lengthy search for a space to house her dance academy.

Built in 1939 and designed by Charles Kyson, the second floor with 10,760-square foot space was originally a bowling alley within the Wilshire La Brea Recreation Center. By the late 1950s, it went out of business and its Art Deco exterior columns and architectural details were covered with cement.

After many negotiations, consultations with her architect and contractors, just as she envisioned, Carla Luna transformed this historic space into Dance Arts Academy, opening in the year 2000.
