About Dance Arts Academy L.A.'s Most Exciting New Dance Space Centrally located in the mid-Wilshire district, Dance Arts Academy offers professional quality dance training and performing opportunities, in all dance disciplines, to students of all ages and levels of experience. Founder/Director, Carla Luna has created beautiful quarters with over 10,000 square feet of space, boasting magnificent bow truss ceilings, skylights, large open spaces for classrooms, state-of-the art sprung floors, ample dressing rooms and generous reception area. Dance Arts Academy offers the community an inspiring new dance facility. Professional level adult ballet classes are taught by Reid Olsen, Lisa Ebeyer, Cynthia Molnar, Guerman Yanson and Marat Daukayev, a well-known star of the Russian Ballet. During his twenty year career at the Kirov, he danced the lead male role in the complete repertoire of classic ballets. Also dedicated to the study of ethnic dance and musical forms, Dance Arts Academy serves as a forum for cultural interchange with the goal to foster an appreciation of these art forms from around the world. Los Angeles is rich in cultural diversity and creative talent. The goal is to tap into this rich cultural heritage to serve the community. Some of the exciting classes now offered are Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Belly Dancing, Classical East Indian, Irish Step, Mexican Folklorico, and West African Senegaleze dance. Another unique offering at the academy is a comprehensive Flamenco Dance program. Los Angeles has an active adult Flamenco dance community, but to date has no structured youth curriculum, nor a center that offers an extensive program which includes practical and theoretical classes. Though the emphasis will be on the discipline that accompanies technical training, we believe that it is important for the students to acquire a solid knowledge of the cultural roots of Flamenco while they are learning the skills of the dance. In addition to Flamenco we will offer the classical, neo-classical, and regional folk dance forms of provincial Spain. The Spanish Classical & Regional dance curriculum under the auspices of the renowned Lola Montes will provide the opportunity for students to be acquainted with all the many aspects and styles from the Spanish dance vocabulary. We plan many master classes and workshops taught by visiting artists from Spain. Dance Arts Academy also offers impressive training in Modern, Jazz, and Tap, all taught by a roster of the top teachers in their fields of expertise, as well as, Hip-Hop, Swing, Tango, Salsa and much more. Planned for the future, there will be classes in Aerobics, Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan, Pilates, Acting and Music. Also projected are regular guest teacher series, archival film showings, lectures and other educational programs. Because we believe that dance and music are crucial to the growth and development of young people, we are planning many after-school and enrichment programs and the establishment of a youth dance company to provide performance opportunities for all of our students. return to top |
